The terms kit home, modular home and prefabricated home are often used interchangeably, but they describe very different ways of building.
A traditional kit home usually arrives as a package of materials that is assembled on site. A modular home is typically built in larger sections in a factory before being transported to the property.
Otto Projects takes a different approach.
Our homes begin with a resolved architectural design and use a prefabricated panelised construction system. Key components are prepared in Victoria before being assembled and completed on site by our builder.
This approach combines the efficiency of prefabrication with the flexibility of building directly on the property. It avoids transporting a completed building while reducing the amount of construction work that needs to happen from scratch on site.
Each project still needs to respond to its property. Orientation, access, foundations, planning requirements, bushfire conditions and services are considered as part of the site review and documentation process.
By repeating one resolved design and prefabricating key components before they reach site, Otto Projects is designed to reduce construction time, unnecessary decisions and complexity.
