The terms kit home, modular home and prefabricated home are often used interchangeably, but they can describe very different building processes.

A traditional kit home usually provides a package of building materials that is delivered to site and assembled by a builder. A modular home is generally constructed in sections in a factory before being transported to the property.

Otto Projects takes a different approach.

We provide resolved architectural designs and the documentation needed to move toward approvals and construction. The home is then built on your site by an appropriate builder, using a construction system suited to the design, location and project requirements.

This gives you the clarity of starting with an established design without being locked into transporting a completed building or purchasing a basic materials-only kit.

Our process is intended to reduce unnecessary design time while still allowing the home to respond to its site. Orientation, access, foundations, energy performance and local planning requirements must still be considered for every property.
